A ScreenTip (seen in the example below) is a helpful tip that appears when hovering over a button. It displays the name of the button and a description of what the button does. ScreenTips can be helpful for new and inexperienced users. However, for advanced users, screen tips can become annoying.

 

Follow the steps below to change ScreenTip settings.  Changing ScreenTip Settings in Microsoft Office Word:

1.       Click the Office button  icon located in the top left corner of your Word 2007 document.

2.       Click the Word Options button located at the bottom right of the window.

             

3.       In the Word Options window, select Popular.

 

4.       Find the ScreenTip style dropdown box. Here you can select from 3 options:

o   Show feature descriptions in ScreenTips – To keep the ScreenTips enabled.

o   Don’t show feature descriptions in ScreenTips – To allow button names to show, but disable their descriptions.

o   Don’t show ScreenTips – To entirely disable ScreenTips.

5.       Select your desired option. Click OK.
