Microsoft Word Training Inserting Watermarks in Microsoft Word Tutorial

A watermark is a non-distracting background image that is placed within a document. Watermarks can be useful when it is necessary to mark a business document with a certain criteria (i.e. Urgent, Do Not Copy). Watermarks can also be used as a way to define a document or simply add elegance and interest. To add a watermark in Word 2007, follow the steps below.

Inserting Standard Watermarks in Microsoft Word:

1.       Click the Page Layout tab to open the Page Layout Ribbon.

2.       Click the Watermark button, bringing up the Watermark drop-down dialog.

3.       Select your desired watermark. The watermark will be automatically inserted into your Word document.

            

  Inserting Customized Watermarks Microsoft Word:

1.       Click the Page Layout tab to open the Page Layout Ribbon.

2.       Click the Watermark button, bringing up the Watermark drop-down dialog.

3.       Select Custom Watermark. From here, you can add a picture OR text watermark.  

     Adding Picture Watermarks Microsoft Word:

1.       To insert a picture watermark, select the Picture watermark option. 

2.       Click Select picture to Browse your picture files. 

3.       Select your desired picture and click Insert. 

4.       Choose the Scale size of your watermark.  

5.       Keep the Washout checkbox checked if you wish the picture to be transparent, or unchecked if you do not. 

6.       Select Apply or OK to insert watermark into document.

             

Adding Text Watermarks Microsoft Word:

1.       To insert a text watermark, select the Text watermark option. 

2.       Define all of the dropdown options (Language, Text, Font, Size and Color). 

3.       Check whether or not you want your text Semitransparent.

4.       Choose your preferred Layout direction (Diagonal or Horizontal). 

5.       Select Apply or OK to insert watermark into your document.

 Removing Watermarks Microsoft Word:

1.       Click the Page Layout tab to open the Page Layout Ribbon.

2.       Click the Watermark button, bringing up the Watermark drop-down dialog.

 

3.       Click Remove Watermark. The watermark will automatically be removed.
