You’ll probably never need this tip because Linux programs rarely freeze (that’s one of the perks of using Novell Linux Desktop), but you didn’t need your teddy bear to sleep when you were five, either. Some things in life are just there to make you feel more secure. Follow the steps below to feel more secure about making a misbehaving program quit in Novell Linux Desktop without using the command line:

Adding the Force Quit Applet to a Panel

1.    Right-click a blank space on your panel.
2.    Select Add to Panel | Activities | Force Quit.



3.    The Force Quit icon will appear on your panel.

Quitting a Frozen Program using Force Quit

1.    Click the Force Quit icon on your panel.
2.    A dialog box will appear giving you the option to press ESC to cancel or to click an open window to force the application to quit.

3.    Click somewhere on the frozen window you wish to quit.
4.    Click the Force Quit button in the dialog box that appears.



5.    The program will close without saving any open documents.
