OpenOffice Software Tips: Wrap Text in OpenOffice.org Calc Cells Print E-mail
End-user Tips and Tricks - OpenOffice.org Tips

Because the command isn't called "wrap text" in OpenOffice.org Spreadsheet (1.1.x), some users have a hard time finding how to force text in cells to wrap. Once you know where the command is; however, it's easy to find and use. Follow the steps below to wrap text within a spreadsheet cell:

  1. Select the cell or cells with the text you want to wrap.
  2. Right-click and select Format Cells.
  3. Click the Alignment tab.

  4. In the Properties area, check the Automatic line break box.
  5. Click OK.

For OpenOffice.org Calc 2.0 the command is also a little hidden, but it is called "Wrap Text." Follow steps 1-3 above, but then check the Wrap Text in Cells box. Click OK.
