Course Overview

The Upgrading to NetWare 6.5 course (Course 3018) provides hands-on NetWare® 6.5 experience. It illustrates how NetWare 6.5 elevates administrator, end-user and business productivity and lowers the total cost of ownership (TCO).

Students will

• Identify new features of NetWare 6.5
  
• Upgrade a NetWare 5.1 server to NetWare 6.5
  
• Install a new NetWare 6.5 server into an existing eDirectory™ tree
  
• Deploy Business Continuity Services
  
• Deploy End-User Productivity Services

Students work through multiple lab exercises to help them practically apply course concepts. The labs reinforce their proficiency with NetWare 6.5 migration and installation utilities and administrator, end-user and developer services. The course learning objectives will be used to derive a certification test for the Certified Novell Engineer (CNE) on NetWare 6.5.

Prerequisites

Course prerequisites include

• Knowledge of or experience with NetWare 5.x and/or NetWare 6.0
  
• Knowledge about or experience integrating NetWare and eDirectory with other operating systems
  
• Knowledge about or experience deploying Web servers, and especially Apache Web server

Audience

This course is the "upgrade" course for the NetWare CNE curriculum. The intended audience includes Novell customers who 1) have administration experience with NetWare 5.x and/or NetWare 6.0, 2) meet the course prerequisites, and/or 3) plan to achieve CNE certification.

Certification Information

This course prepares NetWare 5 CNEs to obtain the NetWare 6 CNE credential.
