ChallengeUnited States Pharmacopeia in Rockville, Maryland, recently updated their GroupWise system to GroupWise 7 and needed to find a way to provide hands-on GroupWise 7 training to the entire company in a relatively short period of time.MyLisa Allen, US Pharmacopeia's Trainer/Application Specialist had heard about BrainStorm from a GroupWise kick-off meeting and attended one of BrainStorm's public GroupWise 7 Train-the-Trainer seminars in New York City. Allen didn't only want her organization's employees to learn the new features in GroupWise 7, she also wanted them to learn about existing GroupWise features they may have not known. BrainStorm's Training SolutionAllen called BrainStorm to try to find a solution for her problem, and BrainStorm's Education Consultant helped her customize a curriculum and training schedule that worked for US Pharmacopeia.BrainStorm sent three master end-user trainers and their completely contained GroupWise lab environment to stay in Rockville and conduct 24 full-day GroupWise 7 end-user training sessions. After the instructor-led training was complete, US Pharmacopeia also purchased GroupWise 7 Quick Start Cards and the network version of the GroupWise 7 Computer-Based Training to help with GroupWise questions that were sure to come up after the trainers left. Results"After completing the training, users were enthusiastic and excited about receiving the application so that what was learned could be incorporated into their everyday work experience," said Allen.She also reported that one particular employee who was traveling for business used the caching feature of Groupwise 7 so that he could manage his e-mail account while in flight. "He was thrilled knowing that he could read and/or compose messages, and work with his calendar offline, then upload the changes when he returned to the office," she said. Allen also said that she has been very pleased with the results of the Computer-Based Training she placed on the company intranet to help users retain what they learned and get answers to new GroupWise questions. "End users know that there is another resource available to assist them with their GroupWise questions," she said. "Overall, working with BrainStorm was a positive experience that has proven to be beneficial for both my department and the entire company. The account representatives were attentive and the instructors were professional, extremely knowledgeable about the subject matter, and efficiently delivered the training information to our user community. If an opportunity presented itself, we would use BrainStorm's training materials or services again." |
