Masco is a global leader in home improvement and building products, headquartered in Livonia, Michigan. The company employs over 19,000 people worldwide and operates 30 manufacturing facilities in North America, along with 8 additional facilities internationally. Masco is committed to enhancing living possibilities through its family of companies.

The Challenge

In early 2024, Masco engaged with Microsoft to begin licensing Copilot for Microsoft 365 in order to empower their workforce with industry-leading generative AI tools. They began their launch with a small pilot group, but needed a way to effectively onboard and train users. Specific challenges included:

  • A lack of awareness and engagement among end users about the benefits and features of Copilot.
  • Historic resistance to change, including low adoption rates of new tools.
  • Difficulty scaling training and support for different user groups.
  • Limited resources to design and deliver engaging learning experiences.

The Process + Solution

Masco engaged with BrainStorm, a long-time Microsoft partner, to implement a comprehensive learning program for their Microsoft 365 tools, including Copilot for Microsoft 365. To support their initial purchase of 300 Copilot licenses, Masco also purchased licenses to BrainStorm’s Microsoft 365 Core Pack and Copilot for Microsoft 365 Pack.

Note: BrainStorm’s Microsoft 365 Core Pack is comprised of turnkey training campaigns focused on the adoption of the full M365 suite. The Copilot for Microsoft 365 Pack is comprised of Copilot-specific training campaigns.

BrainStorm's software adoption platform was crucial in meeting Masco's Copilot pilot needs. Masco quickly moved to purchase additional BrainStorm licenses for all employees in their test group.

The coupled implementation of Copilot and BrainStorm led to increased Copilot adoption and reduced friction in the Copilot rollout. With BrainStorm, Masco achieved:

  • Increased Copilot awareness, engagement, and usage among Masco end users.
  • A significant reduction in support calls and onboarding time associated with Masco’s Copilot rollout.

Among the users that participated in the pilot, there were thousands of interactions with BrainStorm content. The average engaged end user started watching 18 videos and completed 17 during the period we measured. Beyond consumption of learning content, Masco also collected valuable insights into how their licensed users were integrating Copilot into their work.
